David Cassiel

The Potensic Dreamer 4K is one of the first advanced drones made by the Potensic brand. It is a nice drone for beginners and even professionals. The drone comes with all the features you would expect from an advanced drone, except a camera gimbal.

In all honesty, every drone comes with a glitch or two, but the Dreamer 4K more than makes up for any glitch that you may encounter. I hope that through my honest review, you can make an informed decision on whether you want to purchase this drone.

The Potentic DREAMER 4K is the answer for a lot of customers who are in search of an affordable drone that does not cut back on quality.

The Potensic DREAMER 4K comes equipped with some features that can be found in more expensive drones, like a 4K camera equipped with vibration damping plates, GPS-enabled flight, and altitude holding, brushless motors, and a powerful battery.

In this Potensic DREAMER 4K review, I will go over the features and benefits of this beginner drone to show you if the drone is the right choice for you before you go ahead and purchase it.

Potensic DREAMER 4K

The Potensic DREAMER 4K has a 2.7K camera capable of taking aerial pictures and videos. It is capable of doing 360 aerial flips, it’s wifi enabled and comes with a gravity sensor for altitude holding. The Dreamer 4K is capable of performing the eight axes of flight (forward pitch, backward pitch, left roll, right roll, and yaw left and right yaw). It is equipped with a “headless mode” feature and compact, durable brushed motors.

The Dreamer 4K is a great drone for those who are beginners and drone enthusiasts and want to cut back on price and familiarize themselves with an advanced drone before moving to a more expensive version.

The Dreamer 4K is honestly not a hassle to fly and set up, but if you are a beginner, I cannot guarantee that you will not run into some bumps, which a learning curve can fix.

Potensic is a well-known name in the drone industry, with a reputation for producing high-quality drones at affordable prices. The Potensic DREAMER 4K is one of their long lines of beginner consumer drones.

The Potensic DREAMER 4K is a drone that is suitable for a wide spectrum of consumers, including new flyers, kids, teenagers, beginners, and professionals. It is not a foldable drone, but it’s pretty compact, and it can easily be carried around.

The first thing that struck me when I unboxed the Potensic Dreamer 4K was how neatly it was wrapped. There was no damage or missing parts, and the drone and all of its accessories were properly wrapped in a strong box. The drone is well-made and has a premium feel to it, with a stylish appearance that will turn heads.

  • It is a foldable drone and compact
  • It is GPS enable which can assist you in flying
  • It does not lag
  • It has a 4K camera
  • Powerful battery

  • No obstacle avoidance feature
  • No gimbal stabilizer
  • The drone can be shaky in windy conditions

The only issue that I could find with the Potensic DREAMER 4K is the lack of a camera gimbal. Video footage may sometimes be shaky in the presence of strong winds.

However, the Potensic P4 is perfect for beginners, kids, and teenagers. It is easy to fly and handles very well. It can be flown indoors and outdoors (with moderate winds).

Features and Benefits of the Potensic DREAMER 4K

Let’s go over the features of the Potensic DREAMER 4K and its benefits to users.

Design and Build

Potensic Dreamer 4K Reliable UHD Drone in the 200s Setup Test 2 4 screenshot min

The Potensic DREAMER 4K drone has a sleek phantom appearance; it is similar to the Potensic Dreamer Pro. The drone is sturdy to hold and has a 4K camera lodged underneath the drone. while the battery is housed at the back of the drone.

The drone’s body is made from high-quality plastic, which is both lightweight and durable. The plastic material used is of high quality, which is why the drone feels solid in the hand. The rotors are also made from high-quality plastic and are designed to withstand minor collisions and crashes.

The Potensic Dreamer may need a bit of assembly out of the box. You have to attach the right propeller blades to the right motor; it is labeled, so it should not be a problem. The drone is not small and compact, but if the propellers are removed, it can be carried around in a bag.

Size and weight

The Potensic Dreamer 4K is a compact drone that measures 13.7 x 12.59 x 7.67 inches. It is not lightweight, weighing 765 g.

Given that its weight is above 250g, you will have to register the drone with the FAA before flying it in public.

Battery Flight Time

The Potensic DREAMER 4K comes with a 15.2V, 3000mAh lithium-polymer battery that gives it a 27-minute flight time, which is different from the 28-minute flight time that’s advertised on the sales page.

After testing, the Potensic DREAMER 4K battery takes around 1-2 hours to charge completely, which is impressive compared with other drones of similar size and battery that usually take 5 hours to charge completely.

You can always have two batteries on hand; that way, you get up to 36 minutes of flight time, so purchasing extra batteries may be the way to go.

To charge the battery, you need to connect it to a USB cable that is included in the package. The charging process is straightforward, and the LED lights on the battery indicate the charging status.

The Potensic DREAMER 4K comes with a 4K drone capable of taking crisp pictures and videos in 1080p. camera quality is one of the most important factors in buying a drone and the Potensic Dreamer 4K does not disappoint, the camera is capable of taking multiple shots and selecting the most focused one.

Camera Specifications

The Potensic DREAMER 4K’s camera has a wide-angle lens has a 120-degree field of view that can capture maximum details in your shot. While the 90-degree adjustable camera lens can capture photos and videos from different perspectives.

Video and Photo Quality

The Potensic DREAMER 4K’s camera is perfect for capturing beautiful aerial footage and images. However, video quality comes in two forms. Videos streamed and saved on your phone through the app will be of lower quality, than videos saved on the drone’s SD card. This does not apply to photos.

Image Stabilization

One of the standout features of the Potensic DREAMER 4K’s camera does not have a 3-axis gimbal which is optimal for image stabilization. The DREAMER 4K, however, has a motor that mimics a 2-axis gimbal and the camera also has a vibration-dampening plate that helps the camera achieve aerial stability for aerial shots.

Live Streaming and FPV

The Potensic DREAMER 4K also comes with live streaming and first-person view (FPV) capabilities. You can connect your smartphone to the drone’s Wi-Fi network to view real-time video footage of your flight. The drone also comes with a remote control that has a built-in smartphone holder, making it easy to view the footage from your smartphone while you fly

Remote Control

Potensic Dreamer 4K Reliable UHD Drone in the 200s Setup Test 5 27 screenshot min

The Potensic Dreamer 4K comes with a portable and well-designed remote controller. The remote is similar to that of the Potensic P4. The remote control is easy to use and comfortable to hold. The remote control is not bulky, to be honest. You have to unfold the camera antenna and place the phone holder.

The first thing, you notice is the lack of the usual two joysticks. Well,  you will have to do a little bit of assembly. The joysticks are stored in a compartment located on the shoulder of the remote controller. Remove and fix.

On the right-hand side of the remote controllers is the power button for switching on the remote controller and the power indicator lights. To the left-hand side of the remote controller are the take-off/ landing button and the Return to Home button ( ensure that the GPS is switched on for this button to work.

The button for switching from standard and sports mode (The Potensic version of the speed button, the sport mode is faster than the standard mode).

Underneath the remote controller is the photograph button, and under this button is the camera adjustment wheel. To the right is the video recording button and under this button is the camera adjustment wheel.

You have to download the Potensic drone app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices, to connect your smartphone to the drone and also utilize the FPV feature.

Flight Performance and Stability

I always look for drones that can provide a smooth and stable flying experience, and the Potensic DREAMER 4K does not disappoint. In this section, we will delve into the flight performance and stability of the Potensic DREAMER 4K drone.

Flight modes and features

The Potensic DREAMER 4K comes with a variety of flight modes that make flying a lot more fun and engaging. With the Altitude Hold mode, you can keep the drone hovering in the air, which is especially helpful when taking photos or videos. Additionally, the One Key Takeoff/Landing feature makes it easy for beginners to launch and land the drone without any difficulty.

Other features include intelligent flight patterns like the waypoint orbit, Follow me mode, and orbit mode.

Flight time and range

The Potensic DREAMER 4K has a flight time of up to 28 minutes on a single charge, which is quite impressive for a drone in its class. Its range is also remarkable, with a maximum range of up to 800 feet. With its long flight time and range, the Potensic DREAMER 4K is perfect for aerial photography and exploration

Wind resistance and stability

The Potensic DREAMER 4K is equipped with four powerful brushless motors that provide excellent stability, only in moderately windy conditions. Due to its size and the presence of GPS-enabled flight, your drone should be alright to fly in moderate winds.

Potensic DREAMER 4K Set Up

Potensic Dreamer 4K Reliable UHD Drone in the 200s Setup Test 4 15 screenshot min

I’ll go over some basic setups for the Potensic DREAMER 4K if you’re a beginner drone pilot who doesn’t know how to set up the drone. However, you’ll have to exercise patience so you don’t screw things up.

1. Charging the Potensic DREAMER 4K

The first step is to charge the Potensic DREAMER 4K remote control and the drone battery with the USB cord. Unfortunately, only one USB cable is provided in the package, so you’ll either have to wait for one of them to get full before charging the other or simply buy another USB cable.

2. Assembling the Potensic DREAMER 4K

Putting on the propellers: This shouldn’t be too difficult. Potensic provided a magnetic screwdriver to help in attaching the screws to prevent them from falling off. They also provided extra screws in case you misplaced some while attaching the propellers to the drone’s body.

Install the propeller guards if you want

Insert the charged battery in the battery slot of the drone

The landing gear comes pre-assembled just like the SD card.

3. Pairing the Potensic DREAMER 4K With Your Smartphone

The next step is to pair the Potensic DREAMER 4K drone with your smartphone

1) Download the Potensic app on your phone – free

2) Turn on the controller.

3) Switch on the drone’s battery. The battery’s lights will show the charge level; four lights indicate a full charge. Before successful pairing and calibration, the drone’s lights will flash white and pink/red.

4) Connect the remote controller to the drone with the USB cables provided, and then proceed to initiate the flight. The Potensic DREAMER 4K is not a WiFi drone but a radio drone.

4. Calibrating the GPS of the Potensic Dreamer 4K

This is the final step you have to take before you can begin flying the drone.

Step #1: Switch on your drone and the remote controller, and flip the joysticks upwards when everything is on.

Step #2: Rotate the drone counterclockwise while it is on the ground by standing above it, looking down at it from above, and rotating it while it is on the ground as if you were turning off a faucet. When this is successful, two of the drone’s lights ought to cease flashing and go blue.

Step #3: Turn the drone 90 degrees so it is on its side, then spin it so that the propeller guards are perpendicular to the ground and rotating in a parallel plane. The second time you correctly spin the drone, the second pair of lights will cease flashing and turn white. So, the drone’s four lights—two of which are white and two of which are blue—are all solid and not flashing.

Step #4: Press the joystick in and flip it down to switch on the propellers. With that, your drone is ready for flight.
