Some of the factors I took into consideration when selecting the best DJI drones include durability, wind resistance, resistance to multiple crashes, a 4K camera, and long battery life.

I also took into consideration special features that make it easy to use like headless mode, altitude hold, GPS Follow Me Mode and more.

1. DJI Mini SE (Best Budget DJI Drone)

q? encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B098XMSQ3P&Format= SL250 &ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=droneller 20&language=en USir?t=droneller 20&language=en US&l=li3&o=1&a=B098XMSQ3P

Best Budget DJI Drone

The DJI Mini SE is my best-budget DJI drone. It’s great for drone enthusiasts that want a high-quality drone without breaking the bank. Plus, you don’t have to register it with the FAA because it weighs below 250 grams.

Besides its affordable price tag, another good thing about the DJI Mini SE is that its fits into your palm because it’s portable and lightweight. It also gives you the freedom and convenience to carry it with you, wherever you go, especially for frequent travelers.

My main issue with the DJI Mini SE is that it doesn’t come with a 4K camera. However, its camera can shoot in both 1080P and 2.7K, which is more than enough for your basic photography needs.

It’s also very easy to control the DJI Mini SE thanks to its remote control that integrates seamlessly with the app. The only con to the app is that it can’t be downloaded on the iOS app store or Google Play store

It has an average flight time of 30 minutes to give you more fun in the air, which is longer than most consumer drones. It can also resist level 5 winds during flight, and take off at a max altitude of 4,000 meters, which also prevents blurry footage when shooting from the camera.

2. DJI Mavic Mini (Best Beginner DJI Drone)

q? encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B07RKPP1YL&Format= SL250 &ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=droneller 20&language=en USir?t=droneller 20&language=en US&l=li3&o=1&a=B07RKPP1YL

Best Beginner DJI Drone

The DJI Mavic Mini is my best beginner DJI drone. It’s still very appealing to beginner drone pilots because it’s easy to fly even if it has been replaced by higher drones in the DJI Mini product line.

It shares the same lightweight and portability feature as the DJI Mini SE making it great for traveling light. Plus, it also weighs less than 250 grams which saves you from FAA registration.

The DJI Mavic Mini can last up to 30 minutes, making it ideal for beginners to practice their flying skills without worrying about crashing their drone when it runs out of battery in mid-air.

On the nose, a 12MP 1/2.3in sensor captures video at up to 2.7K quality. Results are satisfactory for casual users in well-lit environments, but you must lower the resolution to 1080p to film at 60 fps.

Although there is no object tracking, pre-programmed QuickShots make it simple to fly cinematic flight patterns. Plus, you can also purchase extra batteries if you want to increase your flight time.

DJI Mavic Mini Specifications

You should check out the button below for more information about the DJI Mavic Mini.

3. DJI Mini 3 Pro (Best DJI Drone Under 250 Grams)

q? encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B09WDBDGBZ&Format= SL250 &ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=droneller 20&language=en USir?t=droneller 20&language=en US&l=li3&o=1&a=B09WDBDGBZ

Best DJI Drone Under 250 Grams

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is my best DJI drone under 250 grams. Its weight saves you from FAA registration, while still providing a compact, foldable, and portable piece of tech you can carry anywhere with you.

The camera results surpass the Mini 2 and other DJI drones in their weight class. The DJI Mini 3 Pro can also record 4K video at 60 frames per second. But, you can capture pictures up to 48 MP! It enables you to film in 1080p at 120 fps if you require those extra frames per second.

Automated flying modes make it straightforward to snap clean, cinematic photos from above. However, its subject tracking isn’t ideal, because you may lose the lock if objects move fast or temporarily out of sight.

This drone is highly portable, especially when it’s folded up like the other DJI Mini models are. It can fit easily into your pocket and backpack.

Despite its diminutive size, it has a respectable amount of power and flight duration. In perfect circumstances, it can stay in the air for 47 minutes on a full charge.

You can see a reduced flight time in the sky during windy conditions. Also, some users complained that the range Mini 3 Pro is not very accurate. Despite its dubious capacity to fly, the drone is tiny enough to allow you to maybe use it in locations where larger drones are prohibited.

DJI Mini 3 Pro Specifications

  • Weight: less than 249 grams
  • Dimensions Folded (without propellers): 145×90×62 mm (L×W×H)
  • Dimension Unfolded (with propellers): 251×362×70 mm (L×W×H)
  • Diagonal Length: 247 mm
  • Max Ascent Speed: 5 m/s
  • Max Descent Speed: 5 m/s
  • Max Horizontal Speed: 16 m/s
  • Max Takeoff Altitude: 4000 m
  • Max Flight Time: 34 minutes
  • Max Hovering Time: 30 minutes
  • Max Flight Distance: 18 km
  • Max Wind Speed Resistance: 10.7 m/s (Level 5)

  • Can be controlled from the app and the remote controller
  • A rich selection of camera and flight modes
  • Doesn’t produce a loud noise when flying.

Cons

  • Doesn’t come with an ADS-B feature
  • Obstacle avoidance mode doesn’t work at night.
  • It’s relatively more expensive than other drones in its weight class
  • Can’t use active tracking on a moving target

My Verdict on the DJI Mini 3 Pro

Overall, the DJI Mini 3 Pro is a great choice for drone pilots if you want a DJI that doesn’t require an FAA registration. It also offers foldability and portability, making it your ideal travel companion.

You should check out the button below for more information on the DJI Mini 3 Pro.

4. DJI Mavic 3 (Best Overall DJI Drone)

q? encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B0BGMJN6MD&Format= SL250 &ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=droneller 20&language=en USir?t=droneller 20&language=en US&l=li3&o=1&a=B0BGMJN6MD

Best Overall DJI Drone

What makes the DJI Mavic 3 stand out is its 4/3 CMOS sensor produced by Hasselblad which has 12.8 stops of dynamic range, vision-detection autofocus technology, and plenty more DSLR-like features.

You can get a superior quality video thanks to its camera that can shoot videos in 5K resolution at 50 fps. You can also shoot videos in 4K resolution at 120 fps if you want a faster frame rate.

The picture quality is also something that would keep you hooked. Its superior sensor can capture images in 20 MP, which is more than enough for your basic photography needs.

The DJI Mavic 3 has one of the longest flight times per battery in the consumer drone space. At 46 minutes, it gives you enough time to create important memories or capture your city from the sky

The best part is that you can rest easy knowing that some of the most advanced safety features DJI has to offer are guarding all that priceless and valuable camera hardware. It avoids colliding or brushing into anything that might ordinarily cause it to crash, thanks to omnidirectional obstacle detection.

The DJI Mavic 3’s controls are among the smoothest available. It’s a sky-soaring, professional video-shooting beast. Yet, the cost is likewise exorbitant enough to reach the stratosphere. The DJI Mavic 3 comes highly recommended if you’re seeking a premium drone with tons of awesome features.

  • Max Video Bit Rate: 200 MBPS
  • Video Transmission System: DJI O2
  • Battery Capacity: 5000 mAh
  • Battery Charging Time: 1 hour

  • File Storage: micro SD card (256 GB max)

DJI Mavic 3 Pros and Cons

Pros

  • User friendly.
  • Different modes for different purposes
  • Has one of the best zoom features.
  • Steady camera during windy conditions

Cons

  • You have to take out the battery to insert the SD card.
  • Can’t charge the drone with the gimbal cover on.

My Take on the DJI Mavic 3

The DJI Mavic 3 is the biggest DJI drone at the time of writing this article. It has a bigger sensor, bigger zoom multiples, higher video resolution, and long battery life to suit all your photography needs

You should check out the buttons below for more information on the DJI Mavic 3.

5. DJI Air 2S (Best Camera DJI Drone)

q? encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B08Z2VHRFC&Format= SL250 &ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=droneller 20&language=en USir?t=droneller 20&language=en US&l=li3&o=1&a=B08Z2VHRFC

Best Camera DJI Drone

The DJI Air 2S is my best camera DJI drone. It has almost everything you want in a camera drone. It can capture images in 20 MP, videos in 5.4K resolution at 30 fps, and FHD 1080P resolution at 120 fps.

At a weight of 695 grams, the DJI Air 2S is bigger and heavier than the DJI Mini 3 Pro. It’s not as heavy as the DJI Mavic Pro which weighs 895 grams. Meaning, it’s still lightweight enough to carry with you. However, you’ll have to register it with the FAA because it still weighs above 250 grams.

It captures pictures with a 20-megapixel resolution. But, the sensor’s size also offers a broad spectrum of color tones and a broad dynamic range. This stunning sensor supports 5.4K video at 30 frames per second. Full 1080p HD allows you to film at a smooth 120 frames per second.

The DJI Air 2S 10-bit DlogM color profile can capture even the most subtle tints and colors that your surroundings provide. Moreover, the color profile is so well-tuned that it works in conjunction with the one-inch sensor to capture vivid colors in dimly lit environments.

Using the HDR option, you may get an even more extensive dynamic range by combining numerous photographs. It guarantees that photographers capture the image they desire, even in challenging lighting situations.

The panorama and hyper lapse modes are also quite good. You can also capture a photosphere (a 360-degree image) or 180-degree photo stitching with it!

DJI Air 2S Specifications

  • Weight: 595 grams
  • Dimensions Folded (without propellers): 180×97×77 mm (LxWxH)
  • Dimension Unfolded (with propellers): 183×253×77 mm (L×W×H)

  • Video Resolution: 5.4K: 5472×3078 @30 fps
  • Sensing Type: Downward vision system
  • Video Transmission System: DJI O2
  • Battery Capacity: 3500 mAh
  • Battery Charging Time: 1 hour
  • Recommended Charger: DJI 35W USB-C Charger
  • File Storage: micro SD card

DJI Air 2S Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Propellers don’t produce a loud noise.
  • Very convenient to carry around
  • The controller battery lasts for a long time

Cons

  • Doesn’t have an adjustable aperture
  • Doesn’t have propeller guards.
  • Customer service may take quite some time to respond.

My Verdict on the DJI Air 2S

Personally, the DJI Air 2S is something any drone enthusiast will enjoy taking pictures with during a flight. It has many awesome modes that would make your picture stand out even during low light conditions.

You should check out the button below for more information on the DJI Air 2S

6. DJI Avata (Best Indoor DJI Drone)

q? encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B0B7GJZZ48&Format= SL250 &ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=droneller 20&language=en USir?t=droneller 20&language=en US&l=li3&o=1&a=B0B7GJZZ48

Best Indoor DJI Drone

The DJI Avata is my best indoor DJI drone. It comes with propeller guards that prevent the blades from damage upon hitting an object, and prevents you from injuries when in contact with the blades.

The DJI Avata gives you a brand new way to create videos thanks to its First Person View (FPV) that’s controlled via a headset. This seems like a lot of fun to fly and offers a distinct perspective that is challenging to get with other DJI drones.

Compared to the DJI FPV, the Avata is significantly lighter, and because of its propeller guards, it can be flown indoors. Curiously, the Avata can only be purchased as part of a package with DJI’s Motion Controller, which enables the drone to respond to hand gestures.

For fluid and nimble video shots, the DJI Avata makes it easy. It is the ideal action camera because of this. It may be used as a “follow cam” for athletic events or for swooping down amid breathtaking vistas.

The stunning pictures you may take are enhanced by the FPV goggles. The view from your drone should resemble flying to the individual experiencing it. You may become even more conscious of your surroundings as a result, and you may see a significant change in your makeup.

DJI Avata Specifications

  • Weight: 410 grams
  • Dimensions: 180×180×80 mm (L×W×H)
  • Diagonal Length: 120 mm
  • Max Ascent Speed: 6 m/s
  • Max Descent Speed: 6 m/s
  • Max Horizontal Speed: 8 m/s, 14 m/s and 27 m/s
  • Max Takeoff Altitude: 5000 m
  • Max Flight Time: 18 minutes
  • Max Hovering Time: 17 minutes
  • Max Flight Distance: 11.6 km
  • Max Wind Speed Resistance: 10.7 m/s (Level 5)
  • Photo Resolution: 48 MP: 4000 X 3000
  • Video Resolution: 4K Ultra HD: 3840×2160 @60 fps
  • Max Bit Rate: 150 MBPS
  • Video Transmission System: DJI O2
  • Battery Capacity: 1800 mAh
  • Battery Charging Time: 1 hour
  • Charging Power: 10 W
  • File Storage: micro SD card (256 GB)

DJI Avata Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Very stable in the air.
  • Has propeller guards to prevent damage.

Cons

  • Doesn’t have a long battery life.
  • Can’t activate the drone without a mobile phone

My Verdict on the DJI Avata

Overall, the DJI Avata is my favorite indoor DJI drone. It’s agile and fits well in the palm of your hand, making it convenient for moving from one place to another; although it’s a bit pricey.

You should check out the buttons below for more information on the DJI Avata

7. DJI FPV (Best FPV DJI Drone)

q? encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B08NQD4FBW&Format= SL250 &ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=droneller 20&language=en USir?t=droneller 20&language=en US&l=li3&o=1&a=B08NQD4FBW

Best FPV DJI Drone

The DJI FPV is my best FPV DJI drone. You can view the world through the eye of the drone thanks to the DJI FPV Goggles V2 and DJI FPV’s super-wide 150° FOV, giving you a smooth real-time view of your flight.

Want to feel the rush of flying without having to fuss with putting together your own first-person drone setup? The DJI FPV is a convenient kit that comes with everything you need to soar, including a quick drone and futuristic headgear that transmits a live camera feed to your eager eyes.

Depending on the circumstances, you can fly for up to 20 minutes on a single charge. Each drone you fly must have a visible line of sight, so you’ll need a companion to supervise it while the headset is fastened to your head.

The DJI FPV doesn’t provide the most robust set of aerial photography tools available because it concentrates on a first-person flight, but it nonetheless consistently sends lag-free 4K footage to its companion headset.

Anti-collision sensors and other safety measures make it perfect for FPV beginners, but a manual mode allows experienced experts to do a wide range of flips, dives, and brutal feats.

The DJI FPV has a fantastic emergency brake and hover mechanism since DJI took care of high speeds. Within a few seconds of pressing this simple button, the drone will hover in any situation. This guarantees the maximum level of safety for the 4K, 60 fps camera!

DJI FPV Specifications

  • Weight: 795 grams
  • Dimensions Folded (without propellers): 178×232×127 mm (L×W×H)
  • Dimension Unfolded (with propellers): 255×312×127 mm (L×W×H)
  • Diagonal Length: 245 mm
  • Max Ascent Speed: 15 m/s
  • Max Descent Speed: 10 m/s
  • Max Horizontal Speed: 19 m/s
  • Max Takeoff Altitude: 6000 m
  • Max Flight Time: 20 minutes
  • Max Hovering Time: 16 minutes
  • Max Flight Distance: 16.8 km
  • Max Wind Speed Resistance: 13.5 m/s (Level 5)
  • Photo Resolution: 48 MP: 8000 X 6000
  • Video Resolution: 4K Ultra HD: 3840×2160 @60 fps
  • Sensing Type: Downward vision system
  • Video Transmission System: DJI O2
  • Battery Capacity: 2000 mAh
  • Battery Charging Time: 1 hour
  • Max Charging Power: 90 W
  • File Storage: micro SD card (256 GB max)

DJI FPV Pros and Cons

Pros

  • It gives a whole new experience when flying
  • Extremely fast even in “Normal” mode
  • The goggles are crystal clear like springwater
  • The controls are very responsive compared to the Phantom or Mavic series

Cons

  • Batteries fun down quickly when flying very fast.
  • Not recommended for beginners (Very easy to crash if you’re not familiar with FPV flying)

My Verdict on the DJI FPV

The DJI FPV drone is an exciting DJI drone to fly if you know how to maneuver your way in First Person View. It gives you a unique experience of the world around you because you get to see your footage in real-time through the eyes of the drone.

You should check out the buttons below for more information on the DJI FPV drone.

What To Look For in a DJI Drone?

Shopping for the best DJI drone shouldn’t be a hassle. But not every drone out there will suit your needs. Some factors will determine the drone you purchase for yourself.

In a nutshell, here are some things to look out for when shopping for the best DJI drone.

Drone Price

DJI drones are one of the most expensive drones on the market. They’re a reputable company that’s stood the test of time in delivering high-quality consumer drones on the market.

Just because they’re less expensive doesn’t mean you have to go for the cheapest drone they have to offer because those drones may not have some premium features that’ll make your flight fun.

DJI still has entry-level drones that won’t break the bank like the DJI Mavic Mini and the DJI Mini SE. These drones can give you some premium features and benefits found in their high-tiered drones.

The sweet spot for Holy Stone drones is around $300 to $1000. Within this price range, you can get a high-quality drone that’s durable and has some features that would make flying fun.

You can check out the best cheap drones for every budget.

Drone Size

The size and weight of a drone are important factors to look out for when buying a DJI drone.

If you’re looking to travel, or you travel a lot, you’re better off going for the foldable, portable, and lightweight drone for convenience. However, professional drone pilots can go for bigger drones.

You can also read about the best mini drones, the best micro drones, and the best nano drones.

Camera Quality

Having a camera on their drone is something you will delight in because you’ll be able to take pictures of their favorite scenes and many more. However, you don’t need to overshoot it.

The type of camera quality and resolution you want will be based on the purpose of buying the drone

Kid drones and beginner drones don’t need a 4K camera. A 1080P camera is enough for kid drones, while a 2K camera is more than enough for a beginner learning how to pilot a drone. However, professional drone pilots will need a 4K camera to satisfy their needs and that of their clients.

Some drones include FPV view transmission capabilities, which will let you watch what’s occurring in the air in real time. You’ll be able to fly the plane using an iOS or Android app if it supports mobile control.

If you decide to purchase a DJI drone with a camera, be sure to educate yourself about the privacy rights in your country to prevent you from breaking the law.

You can also check out the best camera drones for photography and videography.

Flight Speed

You don’t need the fastest drone on the planet to fly for fun. You just need a DJI drone with a good speed that can go from point A to point B without hassle.

You should not, however, fly your drone at maximum speed if you want to have a long flight time or if you do not have enough experience flying drones at high speeds.

You should check out the best FPV drones for racing if you want the fastest drone for fun.

DJI Mavic 2 pro drone on the floor

Flight Range

The distance your drone can go will depend on the reason for purchasing the drone. You should be willing to spend more money if you want a drone that can travel very far without losing connection.

You should keep this factor in mind when creating a budget for your DJI drone. You should take your time to check out the features of the drones to know what you’re getting.

You can check out the best drones for long distances if you want a drone that can travel far without losing connection with the remote controller.

Flight Time

Drones in general don’t have a long battery life compared to other remote-controlled devices. Cheaper DJI drones will always have a shorter battery life than more expensive drones.

This happens because cheap drones tend to be small and long-lasting batteries tend to be big. Big batteries won’t fit into small drones. Hence, the need for small batteries with short battery lives.

This isn’t all doom and gloom; the majority of DJI drones can achieve a flight time of around 30 minutes. You can extend the flight time by flying at a low speed or buying an extra battery if your drone has a detachable battery.

Maneuverability

Cheap drones can be difficult to control due to their size and weight, and they love to flip and crash land into your sofa, garden furniture, or fence.

What this is good for, though, is mastering the art of maneuverability. Larger, more technical drones will come with built-in stabilizers and GPS technology, which makes them far easier to fly. So, if you get good at flying a micro drone, you’ll pretty much be a pro with a higher-spec drone.

Drone Durability

Well, cheaper drones won’t be able to withstand wear and tear like other expensive drones. Cheaper drones are easily damaged and more likely to be blown away by the wind.

You can reduce the frequency of repairs by either purchasing a drone with propeller guards to protect the propellers from damage or purchasing a propeller guard for your drone if it has a spot for attaching the propeller guard.

Availability of Spare Batteries

Most drones on this list have spare batteries, so you can spend more time flying them when recharging the extra batteries. More often than not, drones with this price tag tend to come with extra batteries.

Ease of Use

Drones that are relatively easy to fly make the flying experience easy and less stressful. The DJI drones on this list come with one-push autonomous features that let the drone take off, land, or return to base with the push of a button.

There are some essential features to look for when choosing an easy-to-fly drone.

1. One Key For Take Off and Landing

You can easily enjoy their first flights because landing and takeoff require only one key push.

2. Hover Mode

Most DJI drones have a hover mode, which makes it simpler for you to operate your drone. This mode aids in keeping the drone steady while in flight. It is also useful for taking overhead photos or films.

3.  Headless Mode

There is no defined front or rear in headless mode. You can simply control the drone no matter which way it’s looking. It’s useful for piloting the drone when it’s hidden from view.

It’s a fantastic option for beginners who are new to flying drones because all they have to worry about is getting it in the desired direction.

4. Altitude Hold

Controlling the flying height is simple with the Altitude Hold feature since it keeps the drone at the same height as the pilot.

5. Return To Home

The drone will securely land where it took off thanks to a return-to-home button and GPS monitoring. The ability to recover the drone if it disappears from view is a fantastic feature.

Warranty

Warranty is an important factor when selecting the best drones to purchase. Your DJI drone needs to be covered by a warranty so you can get it repaired or replaced when something goes wrong with it within the time limits of the warranty.

Availability of Replacement Parts

Your DJI drone should come with easy access to other parts and accessories that need to be replaced after damage. The best drones often have an abundance of spare parts that are easily accessible at a moment’s notice to the drone pilots if something goes wrong.

Other Features

The majority of the DJI drones on this list have some features that can be found in high-end drones like Autel: collision detection, GPS, obstacle detection, camera stabilization, and many more.

In summary, think carefully about what you want before you go shopping for a drone.
